I have come across this article as received attention in the British press.

We have done Everest Base Camp trek in 2022. We had a good experience. EBC is more commercialised when compared to Manaslu circuit. Annapurna circuit trek falls in between. Helicopter transport is minimal in Annapurna Circuit and almost non existent on Manaslu circuit, when compared to its wide spread use on EBC trek.

Rouge elements come in to picture, when there is over commercialisation. But in general, the guides on these Nepal Himalayan treks are people with integrity. They put their lives before ours. I have a lot of respect for them. It is sad that a few rouge elements are bringing disrepute to them.
